The Catheters were a raucous Seattle punk band that dissolved with a fistfight onstage at the Sunset Tavern in 2004. Since then, they have sought therapy, gotten proper haircuts and have reunited because they heard there will be free beer at this thing.

Raucous and rowdy, the Pleasureboaters bust through conventional rock walls with riff bulldozers and kick drum sledgehammers. Destruction at its finest.

Wimps are a Seattle three-piece that inject catchy, neurotic punk songs with catchy crack-pop sensibilities.

They say it’s a fusion of Go-Go's meets The Monkees. But really this four piece is more electric than when Kurt met Courtney.

La Luz captivated the scene last summer with their sweet, surfy pop rock. Think edgy Dick Dale and the Shangri-Las in a spaghetti western stand-off.

Have we recommended using public transportation yet? Please be responsible and have a designated driver! From I5 North or South, merge onto I90 East. Take exit 3 for Rainier Avenue South. Make Right onto Rainier Avenue South. Make right onto Martin Luther King JR. Way South. Make immediate right onto S. Winthrop Street. King’s Hall will be past the Mount Baker Light Rail Station on your right.
The King's Hall parking lot will be available for Penumbra's beer loving crowd, but space is limited and on a first come, first serve basis. Street parking in the neighborhood is plentiful. Plan to car pool and have a designated driver or use the light rail or metro. This location was chosen to be accessible by public transportation.
Yes, until 11:30 p.m.
Plan a trip! Enter in your final destination as ‘RAINIER AVE S. and S. MOUNT BAKER BLVD’. King’s Hall is on the corner of Martin Luther King JR. Way S. and S. Winthrop St. directly behind the Mount Baker Light Rail Station. Bus Routes servicing this area are the 7, 8, 9, 14, 34, 38, 42, and 48.
Perhaps the easiest way to get to King’s Hall. Just hop on the Light Rail for once and get off at the Mount Baker Station. Walk 50 yards towards Beacon Hill and you won’t miss us! PENUMBRA ends at midnight. The last Light Rail heading northbound leaves Mount Baker Station at 12:32AM. The last Light Rail heading southbound leaves Mount Baker Station at 12:53AM.
Hungry? We’ve got you covered! Several Seattle Food Trucks will be on hand to subside the munchies and soak up all that beer. Think Skillet, ChopStix, Seattle Biscuit Company and Hallava Falafel.

We get sleepy in the winter. It is dark and cold and wet. We see less shows, see less of our friends, and conserve energy to use in those far-distant five days of summer. To hell with all that! Let's get drunk on good beer, dance to awesome music and celebrate the LAST WEEKEND of Winter in Seattle at a crazy underground events space strategically located right behind Mt. Baker Light rail.

This fantastic party is also an important fundraising event for The World is Fun 501(c)(3), a local catalyst connecting volunteers, corporations, and charities in need throughout Seattle.
The Stranger has partnered with dozens of regional craft breweries and several great local bands to present something new to our readers. What happens when serious beer is served in a playful, rockin' atmosphere alongside other cultural wonders? Penumbra is a sampler of what is good in life. Live music. Beers made with love and devotion. Games and free interactive art installations. Food served by the people who cooked it, and the free and easy smoking of weed and tobacco products in a cozy outdoor lounge space.
Special thanks to Amanda Krutenat and Mark Leavens for curating music and brews and for wrangling some of the most creative aspects of this event. We also want to thank all the beer vendors, bands and King’s Hall first and foremost. Without them, none of this could be possible. All the creatives that helped with design and development- you fucking rule. Yeah, I’m talking about Shane Long and Brian Behrens. A big thanks to Seth True for making The Randall Cup trophy. Also, the hard-working, sweat-beading, backwards bending volunteers that gave us their time and tears. Can't thank you all enough. And last, but certainly not least, we'd like to thank Evangeline Spracklin for all her help with the interior decor.
